Motorcycle Theft Prevention

Your motorcycle can get stolen anywhere. Thieves need less than two minutes to steal your motorcycle. Don't give them the opportunity.

Bob Feinen, motorcycle theft and fraud specialist provides tips for preventing motorcycle theft. Bob has assisted in the recovery of more than $4 million worth of stolen motorcycle parts and accessories.
  • Lock your ignition.
  • If traveling with other riders, lock motorcycles together.
  • When you are in a place with outdoor security cameras, park your motorcycle in the cameras' view.
  • At a hotel or motel, park your motorcycle close to your room so you may be able to hear if a thief attempts to steal you motorcycle. Keep an eye on your bike and check your motorcycle periodically.
  • When transporting your bike on a trailer, park the trailer in a well-lit location or viewable by security cameras or by the staff of a restaurant, store or hotel. Lock the trailer doors and hitch. Back up to a wall, so there's not enough room for doors to be opened.

The tips listed here will help. But even when using these precautions your motorcycle can still get stolen. If motorcycle thieves want to steal your bike, they can unless you’re using a high performance motorcycle security system that will give you the opportunity to get it back.
